Platform & Data
Which platforms does StatKraken track?
We currently track five platforms: CrazyGames, Poki, Newgrounds, Kongregate, and YouTube Playables. Additional platforms including Y8, Armor Games, Coolmath Games, and more are on our roadmap.
How often is the data updated?
Game metrics (plays, ratings, votes) are scraped daily. New game discovery runs weekly. All data is stored as timestamped snapshots so you can see historical trends over any time range.
Where does the data come from?
All data is publicly scraped from platform pages — play counts, ratings, rankings, and metadata that anyone can see by visiting the site. We do not use private APIs, login-gated data, or personal user information. Every metric indicates its data source.
How accurate is the data?
Scraped data reflects exactly what the platform displays publicly. Some platforms show rounded numbers (e.g., '10K+ plays'), which we note as estimates. We label all data with its source type: observed (directly scraped), estimated (interpolated), or archived (recovered from web archives).
Can I see historical data from before StatKraken launched?
We are building historical backfill using the Wayback Machine and web archives to recover game metrics from before our scrapers were running. This archived data is labeled separately from live-scraped data.
Features & Usage
What is a breakout score?
The breakout score is a 0-100 composite metric that identifies games experiencing rapid growth. It combines growth velocity (50%), acceleration (20%), momentum (20%), and freshness (10%). A high breakout score means a game is gaining traction fast.
Can I compare games across different platforms?
Yes. StatKraken normalizes data across platforms into a canonical schema, so you can compare a CrazyGames title against a Poki title using the same metrics. Use the directory page with 'All Platforms' selected to browse cross-platform.
Can I track a specific game or creator over time?
Every game has a detail page showing its full snapshot history — daily plays, ratings, votes, and derived metrics over 7, 30, and 90 day windows. Creator pages (coming soon) will aggregate all games by a single developer.
Do you have an API?
Yes. The StatKraken API provides read-only access to all platform data, rankings, trends, and game details. API documentation and access tiers are being finalized — contact us if you need early access.
How do rankings work?
We compute four ranking types: Top (highest total plays/views), Trending (fastest 7-day growth), New (recently discovered games), and Velocity (growth rate over 7 days). All ranking formulas are documented and transparent — these are heuristic rankings, not black-box algorithms.
Business & Legal
Is scraping legal?
We only scrape publicly accessible data while logged out, following established legal precedent (hiQ v. LinkedIn, Meta v. Bright Data). We respect robots.txt, rate-limit all requests, identify ourselves via User-Agent, and do not collect personal information. See our platform risk analysis in our documentation for per-platform details.
I am a game developer. Can I claim my games?
Developer game claiming with verification is on our roadmap. This will let you prove ownership of your games and access enhanced analytics. Contact us if you want early access to this feature.
How much does StatKraken cost?
We are finalizing pricing tiers. The core browsing experience will remain free. Premium tiers will offer advanced analytics, API access, alerts, and historical data exports. Contact us for early pricing discussions.
I want a feature that does not exist yet.
We love hearing what would make StatKraken more useful. Use the contact form to submit feature requests, or email us directly. We prioritize features based on user demand.
